Yeddyurappa meets BJP top brass in Delhi; party meeting President tomorrow
New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has brought his battle with Governor H R Bhardwaj to Delhi. The BJP is upset that the Governor sanctioned prosecution against the chief minister on corruption charges and they will be seeking his recall. Mr Yeddyurappa has sought a meeting with the Home Minister and is working on a strategy to take on the Governor.

"I want to meet Mr Chidambaram and explain all the things... it's an insult to the people of Karnataka, to the Chief Minister, to the democratic system. This is not the first time Mr Bhardwaj is doing like this. As soon as he became the Governor of Karnataka, he started this. He may be representing Congress even today; he wants the BJP should go and Congress should come to the rule," Yeddyurappa said while speaking to reporters at the airport.

Mr Yeddyurappa arrived in the national capital on Sunday afternoon and met the party leaders. After the meet, he said, "Tomorrow by 11:45 am, my MPs and national leaders will meet the President on what all is happening in Karnataka and the attitude of the Governor."

Karnataka is also likely to see development in the tussle, with the chief minister most probably approaching the High Court to take whatever legal measures he can to stop the prosecution.

"The Governor's decision giving sanction to prosecute is untenable, it is full of flaws. We have to fight it on two grounds, legal and political. Legal - even approaching the High Court - that option is before us," said Suresh Kumar, Law Minister.

A Raj Bhavan chalo agitation is planned on Tuesday - the BJP had already called for a bandh on Saturday against the Governor's decision - which effectively shut down the state for a day.

On Friday, Governor Bhardwaj had sanctioned the prosecution of Mr Yeddyurappa following several allegations of his involvement in land scams.
