Ishrat case: Home Ministry files revised affidavit

Ishrat case: Home Ministry files revised affidavit
Ahmedabad: The Home Ministry has filed a revised affidavit in the Ishrat Jehan encounter case. The ministry filed the affidavit in the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday morning.

The three-page affidavit was prepared by the Home Ministry and settled by the Attorney General GE Vahanvati.

NDTV has a copy of the affidavit, which says Intelligence inputs given by the Centre do not constitute conclusive proof and it is for the Gujarat government and its police to act on such inputs.

It also says that the Centre wasn't aware that a magistrate enquiry was pending when it filed its earlier affidavit. And that the Centre had only passed on Intelligence inputs and it did not amount to justifying the killings.

The affidavit also adds that the Centre has no objection to a CBI probe into the encounter.
NDTV had reported last week that the government was proposing the new affidavit.
