The NDA Government released the caste census report in New Delhi today. Here are the highlights:
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley:
- This is the first-ever socio-economic caste census.
- Rural Development Ministry began the exercise in 2011.
- A document of this kind will reflect the realities of India is going to be a very important input for all policy makers.
- Document will form basis of helping us target groups for support.
Rural Development Minister Birender Singh:
- We have now a regionally reliable data for rural households through the first ever socio-economic caste census.
- We are on the cusp of a huge development shift.
