CBSE to declare Class X results on Friday

New Delhi: The results of over nine lakh students who appeared for the CBSE class X examination, held under the grading system for the first time, will be declared on May 28. Over nine lakh candidates had appeared in the class X examination in March this year.

The class X students will be awarded grades from this year and not percentage of marks as were announced till last year. The new system will be based on a nine-point scale, starting from A1 (exceptional) to E2 (unsatisfactory).

For example, students scoring in the range of 91 per cent to 100 per cent will be awarded an A1. The new grading system hopes to rid the students of the mad scramble for marks to reduce unnecessary burden.

The Central Board of Secondary Education will make the results available on its websites, over phone and SMS after 10.00 am on May 28, the Board said in a statement.

It said special arrangements were being made for quick access of results by individuals as well as schools.

The schools will be able to get entire results by registering their school code and email-id on CBSE websites.

Students too can get their results on their e-mail address by registering themselves on www.results.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in, it said.

According to CBSE, the number of students who appeared for the class X examination is 8.65 per cent more than last year. Among the candidates, were 5, 33,715 boys and 3, 68,802 girls.
The results will also be available through the interactive voice response system (IVRS) and through SMS after 10 am this Friday.
