Caught on camera: Terrorists open fire in Srinagar

Srinagar: It was Srinagar's first major terrorist attack in three years. Now, security camera footage from Lal Chowk in Srinagar shows how two militants stormed through the heart of the city last week before they entered a hotel. From here, they fought security forces for 22 hours before they were killed. (In pics: Terrorists strike heart of Srinagar)

Close to 600 civilians were evacuated from the area. Nine people were injured in the attack; in addition to the militants, two others were killed. ()

The cameras show a long shot of the busy Lal Chowk roundabout. At the bottom of the screen, the two terrorists can be seen as they start to fire indiscriminately. The cameras record a civilian being hit by a bullet and trying to crawl away.

Then a close up shows the terrorists working together.

The terrorists were allegedly from the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen and entered India in December. Their phone conversations with handlers in Pakistan are available on NDTV.com. (Listen: How Pak handlers instructed terrorists)
