Gurgaon pubs and bars asked to install CCTV cameras

Chandigarh: The Gurgaon administration today asked the owners of pubs and bars to install CCTV cameras in their premises within 15 days.

It also directed them to shut bars and pubs after midnight and ensure that no liquor was served to underage people.

Issuing the order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), Gurgaon District Magistrate Shekhar Vidyarthi said the CCTV footage should be stored for at least 30 days.

He said the move would help in checking crimes, in particular against women. He added, "During investigations, it becomes difficult to identify the culprits in the absence of CCTV footage."

The order said those serving and drinking liquor should not be below 25 years and the ID proof of the customers should be checked to verify their age.

"Any violation will attract action under the Excise Act," it said.

The order would come into force with immediate effect, the DM said adding violators would be booked and fine and penalty would be slapped on them.
