The ruling Congress in Arunachal Pradesh was poised to return by winning 21 assembly seats, including the 11 which it won unopposed, and leading in 12 of the total 60 assembly constituencies in the state.
People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) won two seats and is leading in two.
BJP and independents have won one each.
Prominent Congress winners include former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin (Liromoba), sitting industries minister Tapang Taloh (Panging), Food and Civil Supply minister Kamlung Mosang (Miao), Parliamentary secretary (PWD) T N Thongdok, PS (Civil Aviation) Jambey Tashi, P S (Environment and Forest) C T Mein, Sports and Youth Affairs PS Wanki Lowang (Namsang), PS agriculture Likha Saaya (Yachuli) and Muchu Mithi (Roing).
Assembly Speaker Wanglin Lowangdong won from Borduria -Bogapani constituency defeating his nearest rival BJP candidate L Wanglat by a margin of 314 votes.
The Congress also won Dambuk, Lumla, Chowkham, Kolaktang seats. The party received a jolt with sitting Agriculture, Horticulture and Dairy Development Minister Setong Sena, parliamentary secretary (Finance) C C Singpho and Chairman of department of Tirap, Changlang and Longding (DoTCL) Yumsum Matey losing in the hustings.
Regional Peoples' Party of Arunachal working president Nikh Kamin won from Bordumsa-Diyun, the lone un-reserved seat in the state by defeating Singpho by a margin of 1328 votes, while its candidate Tirong Aboh won from Khonsa West constituency by defeating Matey by a margin of 1908 votes.
However, PPA's sitting MLA and Chief Ministerial candidate Laeta Umbrey lost to new comer Muchu Mithi of Congress from Roing seat by a margin of 2185 votes.
BJP's Laisam Simai won Nampong seat by defeating Setong Sena of Congress by just 203 votes.
The Congress had fielded 49 candidates, while BJP contested in 42 seats followed by PPA (16), Naga Peoples' Front (11), NCP (9), Aam Aadmi Party in one seat and 16 Independents.
