Woman commits suicide in Thane

Thane: A 40-year-old housewife ended her life after a group of people barged into her house and allegedly threatened to kill her son following a quarrel between two rival groups, police said on Saturday.

According to a police complaint filed by GF Khan, the victim's son, six people came to his house on Friday night at about 2100 hours and began searching for him over a dispute.

When they did not find him home, they warned his mother Rehana Khan of dire consequences and threatened to kill her son and set their house on fire.

The accused were under the impression that the son was part of the rival group, with whom they had a quarrel.

Shocked, the woman allegedly hung herself last night. Her body has been sent for postmortem, police said.

All the six have been booked under sections 306,506 rw 34 of the IPC, said API J S Nagrale of the Ambernath police station.

A hunt is on to nab the accused and further investigations are on.
