He cheated death as train got late!

Thane: A man, tied up and left to die on railway tracks in a Maharashtra town, escaped death as the train supposed to run him over was delayed by 10 minutes.

Pradip Yadav, 20 was the victim of a murder conspiracy by his cousins who tried to kill him by tying him up on the railway track near Boisar, an industrial town in the district on October 5.

However, the train did not come as per schedule and gave Yadav time to scream for help, said investigating officer of Boisar police station Vishwas Patil.

"Fortunately for Yadav, local villagers heard his cry for help and rushed to help him, untied him and took him to a local nursing home for treatment. Later, he called from the nursing home and we went there to record his complaint of the attempt to kill him on the railway tracks," Patil told IANS.

Patil and his team managed to nab two of the total five accused named by Yadav on Tuesday. They were produced before the Palghar court and remanded to police custody till Friday.

"We have arrested two cousins, Dinesh Yadav and Chandrabali Yadav, and are on the lookout for the other three as well as their vehicle," Patil said.

The motive behind the attempt to kill Yadav, who was working as a waiter in Hotel Sarovar in Boisar, is an old family dispute over ancestral land in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The dispute took an ugly turn when last Monday when Yadav was kidnapped by his cousins, dumped in a Scorpio SUV and taken to a desolate place near the railway track.

They severely assaulted him on the way and then tied him up near a deserted stretch of the railway lines before fleeing.

According to Patil, the accused have been charged for rioting, kidnapping and attempt to murder.
