Yamuna Nagar, Haryana:
A woman corporator from the BJP, trying to shield a party worker, was pushed around and punched allegedly by five-six Congress workers.
The shameful act, which was caught on camera, happened inside the office of the Mayor of Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, as corporators from the Congress and the BJP clashed with each other today.
Around half a dozen corporators and BJP workers were injured in the clash.
The BJP alleges it was the Congress corporators and their supporters who attacked their workers.
Trouble began when senior deputy mayor from the BJP sat next to the Yamuna Nagar mayor. The Congress objected to this, leading to a heated debate and then a brawl.
Chairs were seen being flung. Party workers, who were waiting outside, joined the corporators.
The BJP members, outnumbered, were bashed up by Congress workers for nearly half an hour. The police had to be called in to intervene.
The BJP workers are now camping outside the police station and want FIRs registered against all Congress workers and corporators involved in the incident.
