Eminent Tamil Lyricist Na Muthukumar Dies At 41

Na Muthukumar is known for his critically acclaimed literary work.

Chennai: Eminent Poet and Lyricist Na Muthukumar died in Chennai today following an illness. He was 41. 

Known for his critically acclaimed literary work he had won two national awards for his lyrics "Anandha Yazhai Meetukirazh" in the film "Thanga Meenkazh" and "Azhagae Azhagae" in the film "Saivam". 

Earlier, Mr Muthukumar had a stint as an assistant director with filmmaker Balu Mahendra. 

In his tribute tweet Actor Kamal Haasan said, "Miss you my friend. Thanks for the words you left behind in print. Hope you enjoyed life half as much as we are going to enjoy your poems".
 Lyricist Vairamuthu said, "There's no justice in the court of death". 

In his statement, DMK Chief Karunanidhi said, "I'm shocked". 

Born in Kancheepuram district Na Muthukumar has written more than fifteen hundred lyrics. 

He is survived by his wife and two children.
