New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Bihar's Banka, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address two rallies in the state today.

Ms Gandhi's rallies at Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur and Wajirganj in Gaya will be the first set of Congress rallies since the five-phased elections were declared.

Ms Gandhi is expected to address the first rally at Kahalgaon near Bhagalpur. Polling here will be done in the first phase on October 12.

She will then fly to Birgunj near Gaya where polling will be held in the second phase on October 16.

Congress sources said that both Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are likely to share the dais with Ms Gandhi.

BJP President Amit Shah also will also address a rally in Purnia, which goes to polls on November 5.

Yesterday, addressing the rally in Banka, PM Modi made a strong pitch for development, pointing to how neighbour Jharkhand, ruled by the BJP, had jumped many places to now be ranked number 3 among Indian states in a World Bank survey while the Janata Dal-United (JD-U)-governed Bihar had remained stagnant.

He also targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Congress-RJD-JD(U) alliance saying that the state government had failed to keep promises made before the last election.

Last month, in his first rally in Bihar, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had took on PM Modi, alleging that he only met people wearing 'suits and boots' and has stopped talking to the country's poor.

Mr Gandhi also said that the Prime Minister had promised to bring back unaccounted wealth or 'black money' of the rich, stashed away in foreign bank accounts, but that hasn't happened.
