Husband of IAS officer shot; escapes unhurt

Bhopal: The husband of a senior woman Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Ajita Vajpayee Pandey was shot at allegedly by a car decorator following dispute over ownership of a shop but escaped unhurt, police said on Sunday.

The car decorator fired two shots at Amit Pandey, husband of IAS officer Ajita, from his licensed weapon following a dispute over ownership of a shop in the Maharana Pratap Nagar area of the city, police said.

The incident occurred on Saturday when Mr Pandey along with his associates went to Dynamic Chamber where the car-decorator Sanjay Soni's shop was located, they said, adding that Mr Soni had allegedly fired two shots at Mr Pandey but he escaped unhurt though a bullet hit his car.

Police later arrested Mr Soni and seized his licenced revolver. But traders of the area protested against the arrest and demanded that a case should also be registered against Mr Pandey who they said had allegedly threatened Mr Soni.
