Rahul Gandhi at CII meet: Becoming PM and getting married are irrelevant questions
New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi today described the speculation about his becoming Prime Minister and getting married as "irrelevant". "These are irrelevant questions... it's all smoke," the Congress vice-president said while addressing India Inc at a meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry or CII in New Delhi.

"Press guys asked when are you getting married. Somebody else said, 'Boss, when are you going to be the Prime Minister'. Somebody says, 'No you are not going to be PM'; somebody says 'May be you will be PM. There is good possibility'," Mr Gandhi remarked, adding, "It is like the American polling charts... the only relevant question in this country is how can we give our people a voice?"

His comments came days after Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh sought to pitch Mr Gandhi for the top post, saying the current arrangement of a separate party chief and Prime Minister has not worked.

The Congress rejected Mr Singh's contention, saying the equation between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party president Sonia Gandhi was an ideal model that can continue in the future.
