New Delhi: A delegation of Sindhi and Bengali communities accompanied by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari yesterday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum to highlight their plight on visa and citizenship related issues.

Mr Singh assured the delegation that the Home Ministry is committed to address issues faced by them and it had already constituted a Task Force headed by Joint Secretary (Foreigners) to look into such issues.

The Task Force will monitor and expedite processing of citizenship and Long Term Visa (LTV) applications from these minorities from neighbouring countries, an official release said.

The Home Minister informed Mr Gadkari that the cases having complete documents will be processed within two months by the Task Force constituted on September 5.

The MHA Task Force will be soon visiting Lucknow, Nagpur and other cities where such migrants live in large numbers.

The Task Force will camp in those cities and resolve the issues pertaining to visa and citizenship.

This decision is expected to facilitate the minorities from neighbouring countries who want to stay back in India for fear of religious persecution back home.
