US-Iran War Live Updates: A fragile truce between the United States and Iran hung in the balance Sunday after US forces said they struck Iranian targets in another tit-for-tat response to attacks on shipping in the vital Strait of Hormuz.
The clashes brought new tension to the negotiating process meant to end a war launched by the United States and Israel at the end of February. They also underlined the risks still facing one of the world's most important sea lanes for oil and other commodities.
US Central Command, or CENTCOM, said it hit "multiple targets in Iran."
This, CENTCOM said, was in response to an Iranian drone attack on the Panama-flagged oil tanker "Kiku," which was carrying some two million barrels of crude.
The US military said the latest response targeted "surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelayer capabilities."
Iranian media reported several explosions in Sirik and Qeshm areas, in southern Iran.

Kuwait, Bahrain Say Iran Targeted Them With Drone, Missile Strikes
Bahrain and Kuwait said Sunday that Iran targeted their nations with drone and missile fire overnight after new US airstrikes hit Iran.
The new crossfire in the Persian Gulf further strains the initial deal that Iran and the United States struck in an effort to find a permanent end to the war.
Both Bahrain and Kuwait denounced the Iranian attacks, though it wasn't clear what, if anything, had been hit.
The US military's Central Command said it struck Iranian military "surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and minelayer capabilities" following an attack on a ship at sea early Saturday morning.
That ship, the Panamanian-flagged tanker Kiku, was carrying crude oil for the state-run energy company of Qatar, a key mediator between Iran and the US.

Iran Guards Say Strikes Against Kuwait, Bahrain In Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday that it carried out strikes against Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian territory, warning any further aggression would be met with a "crushing response".
Iran and the United States have both accused the other of violating their fragile ceasefire, straining negotiations meant to end the Middle East war.
The Guards "destroyed eight important US military facilities at the Ali al-Salem base in Kuwait and at the Fifth Fleet naval base in Port Salman in Bahrain," they said in a statement.
"Any enemy aggression, whatever the pretext, even against insignificant targets... will have a crushing response," the Guards added.
A memorandum of understanding was reached in mid-June under Pakistan's mediation, aimed at putting a lasting end to the war.

US Military Says It Struck 10 Targets In Iran
The US military said Saturday it had struck 10 targets in Iran at President Donald Trump's direction, continuing a string of attacks that have shaken the war's uneasy ceasefire.
US Central Command, in a post to social media, said that US military aircraft targeted Iranian military "surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelayer capabilities" following an attack on a merchant vessel early on Saturday morning. It later specified the strikes involved 10 Iranian military targets at multiple locations in and near the Strait of Hormuz.
The ongoing strikes in the Persian Gulf show the danger of the Iran war again spinning out of control, even after Iran and the US reached an interim deal to try and agree on a final accord to end the conflict.

Trump Threatens To Annihilate Iran After New Exchange Of Attacks
US President Donald Trump said Saturday that Iran would "no longer exist" if the United States is "forced" to resume the war, as he accused Tehran of violating a ceasefire.
The threat came after US forces said they struck "multiple" Iranian targets Saturday in another tit-for-tat response to attacks on shipping in the vital Strait of Hormuz.
"United States aircraft just struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations, and coastal radar sites, for violating the Cease Fire Agreement, AGAIN!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"There may come a point when we are no longer able to be reasonable, and will be forced to militarily complete the job that we very successfully started. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!" Trump wrote.

The agreement -- which includes a pilot effort in which Lebanese soldiers take control of two areas currently occupied by Israel, as well as a process aimed at disarming Hezbollah -- was signed in Washington on Friday after five rounds of talks.
"The framework agreement in Washington is humiliating, shameful, and a surrender of sovereignty. US-Iran Strikes Updates: Iran Accuses US Of Violating Peace Deal
Iran on Saturday accused the United States of violating the peace deal agreed to end the Middle East war, after Washington launched strikes on Iranian territory and Tehran responded with attacks on US targets in the Gulf.
The trading of fire, which came after Washington accused Tehran of attacking a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz earlier in the week, raised questions about efforts to keep the crucial waterway open while both sides negotiate a broader, final deal.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest American strikes, against Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar positions, were a response to "unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces" that "clearly violated the ceasefire".
But Iran lashed out at the attacks after its Revolutionary Guards launched its own retaliatory strikes.
"These brutal attacks, which targeted Iranian coastal surveillance facilities, are a blatant violation" of the memorandum of understanding to end the war, the Iranian foreign ministry said. (AFP)

US-Iran War Live Updates: US Slams Iran's "Unwarranted Aggression"
US Central Command said the American strikes against Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar positions were a response to "unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces" that "clearly violated the ceasefire."
"US aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone. The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast at the time of Iran's attack," the Central Command said in a statement.
"The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire. Furthermore, Iran's dangerous behavior undermined freedom of navigation as commerce increasingly flows through the vital international trade corridor," the statement read.
They said the American forces continue to provide "safe passage coordination and support" to commercial vessels transiting Hormuz, where a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies typically passes.
"The US military remains present and vigilant to ensure all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to, obeyed, and in full force and effect," the Central Command added.
