Islamabad: As Pakistani troops stepped up their offensive against the Taliban in the restive Swat valley, the military has said the terrorists apprehended by the security forces during the operation would be tried in the court of law.

"Yes, they (terrorists) would be produced before the court of law," military spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas told reporters in Islamabad on Saturday, briefing them on the ongoing Operation Rah-e-Rast against the Taliban.

He said the apprehended terrorists are being probed and would be kept in 3 categories - 'Black', 'White' and 'Grey'.

The terrorists found to be directly involved in the terror activities by engaging the security forces would be kept in Black category while those found to be assisting the Black category would be kept in White one, he was quoted as saying by the state-run APP news agency.

Abbas said the terrorists who were not directly involved in both Black and White categories but were somehow found guilty of terrorism would be kept in Grey category.

The findings of the investigation carried out by the security forces would be presented before the court of law along with the terrorists for the final verdict, he added.

Replying to a question, he said an Information Cell with the mandate to work round-the-clock and provide and gather information about the Operation Rah-e-Rast has been established in Rawalpindi.
