Europe stocks skid, wall street loses gains

Wall street gives up gains while Europe stocks skid on reports that Angela Merkel has rejected increasing the European bailout fund. However, German investor confidence unexpectedly rose for the first time in 10 months in December. Meanwhile, at 0.2 per cent growth U.S. retail sales rise less than expected in November, the slowest pace in five months.
