The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced the closure of Central Park in Connaught Place on October 16 and 17, ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) planned ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march. The Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), citing concerns over public order and safety. CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke has called on people to gather with the national flag, insisting that hoisting the Tricolour is not a crime. The party, along with Opposition groups, is demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Meanwhile, market associations have sought police protection for businesses in Connaught Place amid concerns over potential disruption during the festive season.
