Abhishek Manu Singhvi Opens Up On Being Appointed As An Advocate For Tata Trusts
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi speaks to NDTV about his appointment as an advocate for Tata Trusts amid the ongoing Tata dispute. Singhvi says he feels “sadness” that the differences could not be settled amicably, while explaining his professional role in the matter. Singhvi discusses shareholder rights, Tata Trusts’ decision-making, the Charity Commissioner’s role and the long-standing relationship between Tata Trusts and Tata Sons. Referring to the Supreme Court’s Tata-Mistry judgment, he says the primacy of Tata Trusts and relevant provisions in Tata Sons’ articles appear to have been selectively forgotten. He says the courts may ultimately have to find a solution.
