An IndiGo flight from Delhi landed in Guangzhou on Tuesday, marking the airline's resumption of direct passenger services between India and China. The development signals the restoration of non-stop air connectivity between the two countries and is expected to make travel on the Delhi-Guangzhou route more convenient for passengers.
Visuals from onboard the flight, shared by ANI, offer a glimpse into the passenger experience. The footage shows smooth meal service, travellers enjoying a comfortable journey, with some resting while others read magazines or sip beverages. The cabin appears nearly full, with most seats occupied. Families and passengers from different age groups can also be seen on board, underscoring the strong demand for the route.

IndiGo had announced the resumption of daily, direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou in October 2025. At the time, Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, said, "We are pleased to enhance our connectivity to China with daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, in addition to the recently resumed route from Kolkata. The resumption of operations between two of the world's most populous nations presents immense potential for cultural exchange and economic collaboration. With this launch, IndiGo connects China to its vast domestic and growing international network via Guangzhou. We are confident that this will contribute towards the acceleration of opportunities in trade, investment, tourism and education between the two countries, while reinforcing our commitment to connect India to the world."

This resumption comes at a time of improving bilateral relations between India and China. Alongside IndiGo's expanded operations, Air China has also restarted its Beijing-Delhi services, providing a significant boost to overall air connectivity.
China Eastern Airlines, meanwhile, resumed its direct Kunming-Kolkata service last month. The airline had earlier reinstated non-stop flights between New Delhi and Shanghai in November last year, signalling a gradual return to pre-pandemic connectivity levels, reported ANI.

Indian carriers have also stepped up capacity in response to rising travel demand. IndiGo resumed daily direct flights between Kolkata and Shanghai from March 29 and had previously reinstated the Kolkata-Guangzhou route. Together, these developments reflect coordinated efforts by airlines from both countries to strengthen aviation links and support wider economic engagement.
The revival of these key air routes follows an easing of diplomatic ties since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Tianjin last year, which has helped pave the way for renewed commercial and travel exchanges.
