Some travellers find joy in exploring cities, while others gravitate towards beaches or mountains. But a few are driven by pure adventure - venturing into the unknown, experiencing nature in its rawest form, and encountering cultures far removed from their own. Taking the road less travelled, travel vlogger Colin embarked on one such unconventional journey. He documented his experience in a video on Instagram, capturing his encounter with the self-proclaimed “last caveman on Earth.” Yes, you read that right.

The clip introduces us to 62-year-old Aliah. “He lives on the rocky shores of Socotra (in Yemen), surviving off the sea with nothing but what nature gives him.” To many viewers' surprise, Aliah speaks broken English - picked up over the years from curious visitors like Colin. Wearing only a loincloth and oversized seashell accessories, the caveman gives the vlogger a peek into his lifestyle. He shares that he had 15 children, nine of whom have passed away, yet he smiles as he calls it “the way of nature.”

According to Colin, Aliah “sleeps in a cave, fishes by hand, and walks barefoot over jagged rock like it's sand. His days are measured by the tides, not time. No phone. No electricity. Just the rhythm of wind and water.” His home is surrounded by animal bones and the scent of salt-laced breeze. He follows long-lost rituals of hunter-gatherer survival - including hunting animals and rinsing them in the sea. He even shares his fondness for “playing with the sea life around.”
