In a welcome move for many foreign visitors, Saudi Arabia has announced a 30-day extension of the grace period for individuals whose visit visas have expired. This allows affected travellers to leave the country legally without facing additional penalties for overstaying. The decision, confirmed by the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in an official post on X, took effect on July 26, 2025. This move will allow the Saudi government to handle travel and visa matters more flexibly, especially during peak travel seasons. By offering an extended window for legal departure, the authorities aim to ease pressure on travellers and promote better compliance with immigration rules.

Visitors currently in Saudi Arabia whose visit visas have expired can benefit from this move. It includes all visa types: family, tourist, business, single-entry, and multiple-entry. It is applicable only if the visa expired before or on July 26, 2025. This window is specifically for departure purposes only - visa status cannot be changed or extended during this time.
