If the floating mountains or Hallelujah Mountains of Pandora from Avatar have ever made you wonder whether such a place really exists, the answer is yes. One of the biggest inspirations for the film's magical landscapes can be found in China's Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
The park is known for its thousands of tall pillars covered with greenery. Their unusual shapes can make them look as if they are levitating. Indian content creator Roop Verma recently visited Zhangjiajie and shared her reaction after seeing the iconic mountains in person.

According to the official Avatar website, the Hallelujah Mountains are huge mountains that float above Pandora. In the film, they are held in the air because of the strong attraction between Pandora and its parent planet, Polyphemus.
“These great floating stones are forested, sometimes connected by great cable-like bridges of vegetation and often have majestic waterfalls cascading from their sides. The “floating” reality of the mountains became apparent after a science team measured the prodigious magnetic fields that supported the mountains. It is attributed to the massive unobtanium deposit that was found.”
The mountains in Zhangjiajie do not actually float but their tall rock formations rise high above the ground and are often covered by clouds and mist. This gives them a magical and unusual look.
Starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaaa and Sigourney Weaver in key roles, the Avatar series is one of the highest grossing film franchises of all time.
