Amid a wave of travel stories celebrating India's lesser known landscapes, Anand Mahindra has drawn attention to the Konkan region of India. The industrialist shared a post on X celebrating the underrated beauty of the place. He urged travellers to visit the hidden treasures of India that are still waiting for recognition "These photos of the Konkan region in the monsoon were shared by @sandesh_samant along with the comment: 'Maharashtra is so underrated and we have created no infrastructure for tourism.' I wouldn't agree that we created NO infrastructure. He may have said that in order to be emphatic," Anand Mahindra wrote.

"But his intentions are good, and his statement applies to our entire country. Breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. All underrated and all waiting for our appreciation," he added.

All About Konkan Region In India

Situated between the Western Ghats mountain range and the Arabian Sea, Konkan is a scenic coastal strip on the western side of India. The region spans multiple states and is known for its beautiful beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture. By Train: For many, the Konkan Railway is the most scenic way to experience the region. The route stretches over 700 km, connecting cities like Mumbai in Maharashtra and Mangaluru in Karnataka. Major stations in the Konkan belt include Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi Road, and Madgaon (Goa).

By Bus: The state-run Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and numerous private operators run buses that connect various parts of the Konkan region with major cities in Maharashtra and neighbouring states.

By Car: National Highway 66 is the primary road connecting major cities like Mumbai and Pune to the Konkan coast. It offers a direct and scenic route, perfect for a road trip.
