A mock drill will be held on Tuesday across a number of health facilities in several states and Union territories to ensure their readiness to deal with any eventuality related to COVID-19, following an advisory by the Centre.

Amid rising fear of a new Covid wave in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that he will hold a meeting with health ministers of states and Union territories on Friday.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday informed that more than 5.58 crore unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States and Union Territories to be administered.

The Centre urged the states and Union territories on Wednesday to strictly monitor the home isolation cases of COVID-19 so that these patients do not intermingle in the community.

States and Union territories have been asked to submit "larger number" of samples for whole genome sequencing from districts and areas which have seen a surge in COVID-19 cases over a period of seven days, official sources said on Saturday.

The Centre today asked all states and Union territories to ensure high level of testing in areas reporting new or cluster of COVID-19 cases while emphasising the need to follow the five-fold strategy of combating the disease.

NAS 2021, held on November 12, 2021, assessed over 34 lakh students across the states, and Union Territories where the effects of the pandemic came out visibly.

More than 20.16 crore balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with states and union territories to be administered, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in its official statement today.

The Centre on Tuesday informed Parliament that confirmed death due to oxygen shortage has not been reported by any state or union territory although over 5.21 lakh fatalities due to COVID-19 have been recorded in India.

More than 15.66 crore balance and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories (UTs), informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday.

With the resurgence of COVID-19 cases globally, the Centre has advised States and Union Territories to continue focusing on the five-fold strategy that is test-track-treat-vaccination and adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour.

With the Union Territory of Puducherry registering low or zero new cases of Covid-19 since recently, the territorial administration on Friday decided to resume LKG, UKG classes from March 14.

Centre has asked states and union territories to consider exchange of near expiry COVID-19 vaccine vials available at private vaccination centres with long expiry vaccine doses stocked with government facilities to ensure there is no wastage.
