Transgender Policy In Kerala

As part of various steps to bring the transgender community into the mainstream of society, Kerala government plans to introduce a third gender option in Public Service Commission job application forms.

In order to provide equal opportunity to the transgender community and bring them to the forefront of the society, the LDF government in Kerala has planned an education programme for the transgender community.

Kerala has unveiled a transgender policy, becoming the first state in India to do so. The policy aims to give 25,000 transgender people in the state a platform to eventually be able to demand a right to equality, dignity, development and expression, the government says.
