JNU Case: Top Court To Hear Today Plea For SIT Probe In Patiala House Violence

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would today hear a plea seeking an SIT probe into the incidents at Patiala House courts in which three lawyers were allegedly caught on camera "bragging and boasting" they had beaten up JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar and others, including journalists.

Black Money: Government Begins Prosecution of 60 People, Say Sources

The Centre has started legal proceedings against 60 people who have allegedly parked black or untaxed money in illegal foreign accounts, sources have told NDTV. The money allegedly kept in these accounts could be more than Rs.1500 crore.

The government has asked the Supreme Court to review its order last week which asked for a new committee to be set up to handle the problem of black money. The government formally petitioned the court today, saying that its order amounts to "judicial over-reach into the functioning of the executive."
