Sit Ishrat Jahan Case

The tenure of IPS officer Satish Verma, who was earlier a member of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) that probed the Ishrat Jahan case as Chief Vigilance Officer of NEEPCO, has been curtailed by the Centre.

Guilt is proved in the courts according the laws of evidence and punishment is then handed down by the courts. Ishrat Jahan was denied that opportunity.

Senior police officer Satish Verma, who was a member of Special Investigating Team (SIT) that probed the Ishrat Jahan case, has been served a show cause notice alleging "misconduct" and "unauthorised absence" from duty.
