A newborn baby was found lying in a bush behind the botanical gardens at Tamil Nadu's Udhagamandalam on Sunday, police said.

A casual labourer was trampled to death on Thursday by a herd of elephants at Thengumarada, about 80 km from Udhagamandalam. Forest department sources said, the 35-year-old man was among a group of labourers going for work, when the herd attacked them. Other workers managed to escape, they said.
