Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has been given charge of Madhya Pradesh until the appointment of regular incumbent, an official communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Madhya Pradesh Governor Lal Ji Tandon, who was admitted to hospital since last month, has died, his son Ashutosh Tandon said this morning. Lal Ji Tandon, 85, was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on June 14.

President Ram Nath Kovind has assigned Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel the additional charge of Madhya Pradesh in the absence of Governor Lal Ji Tandon, who has taken ill and has been in a hospital, a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
