A march by 50,000 landless people to Delhi from Gwalior - known as Jan Satyagraha (people's movement) - for framing a National Land Reforms Policy was halted at Agra today after an agreement was signed between the Central government and Ekta Parishad, the NGO behind the march.

There is some hope for the thousands of jan satyagrahis who are marching from Gwalior to Delhi, as their five-member delegation is expected to take up their demands once again with Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh in Delhi today.

The jan satyagraha undertaken by 50,000 landless people, who are marching from Gwalior to Delhi, has entered its third day. By undertaking this challenging journey, the protesters from 26 states hope to draw the Centre's attention to the plight of the landless poor. They hope to cover the distance of about 320 km by October 29.
