Black Scarves

Amid a series of incidents of showing black flags to the political leaders in Madhya Pradesh, police allegedly took away black scarves of a few college students before attending a programme of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Betul district on Tuesday.

When Fatmata Mansaray and Hajah Bah cross the stage Saturday for their high school graduation, they plan to do so proudly wearing head scarves of black and gold tucked beneath their graduation caps. But last month their hijab drew sharp questions from administrators at the Northern Virginia school.

Legislative Affairs Minister Harish Rao moved the resolution for the suspension of the BJP members for this week. Wearing black scarves and raising slogans against the government, the BJP members demanded that the government drop the proposal to increase the quota for the Muslims.
