Somdev says he will break into top 100 soon
Mumbai: High on confidence after achieving his career-best singles ranking, Indian tennis ace Somdev Devvarman on Thursday exuded confidence of breaking into the top-100 soon.

"I'm anticipating that (to be in the top-100) to happen sooner than later. Obviously, reaching a ranking of 124 is satisfying and does make me happy, but I have miles to go,". Somdev told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

The 24-year-old said the weight of expectations can sometimes be difficult to live up to.

"People have lots of hopes on players and sometimes it can be very difficult to fulfil them," Somdev said.

On India's Davis Cup World Group tie against Russia to be played in Moscow next year, Somdev said he was looking to give his best considering India had made it to the elite 16-team World Group after a hiatus of 11 years.

"I'm really excited about faring well in this World Group tie in Moscow. I have been training well and I'm looking forward to giving my best and help my country across the first round hurdle," Somdev said.
Somdev had made his maiden ATP Tour final at Chennai Open earlyh this year, toppling two-time champion and world number 42 Carlos Moya of Spain and 25th ranked Ivo Karlovic of Croatia.

"It was fantastic to play in Chennai with some of the top players of the world. The Chennai Open has provided me more appetite to play good games in coming days," he said. Somdev, who is widely touted as the fastest player in the ATP Tour, rued that he did not get much time to spend in India.

"I'm always proud to be Indian but tennis keeps me out of my country. I would love to spend more time in India," he said.

India's Percept Talent Management today inked a deal with US-based sports representation agency, Mamba International, to provide marketing services for Somdev.
