After former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa demanded release of funds for drought relief work, his son B Y Raghavendra, MP, too has now shot off a letter, seeking funds for development programmes in his home district.
Raghavendra, who represents Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, expressed displeasure in his letter to Gowda that development programmes announced by his father when he was Chief Minister faced financial crunch.
Even as his father continued his political battle to regain the Chief Minister's post which he lost in July last year, Raghavendra urged Gowda and secretaries of departments to sanction sufficient funds for early completion of development works in Shimoga district, which were approved by Yeddyurappa.
The letter released to press has a long list of major works like establishment of Agriculture University at Shimoga, Ayurveda College, completion of works of Shimoga airport, construction of a bridge across backwaters of Sharavathi river near Sagar, bridge across river Tunga near Holalur and modernisation of Mysore Paper mills at Bhadravathi.
"All these works were sanctioned by Yeddyurappa and he had promised people to implement them within a year. But many works are facing financial crunch" Raghavendra pointed out.
Recently, Yeddyurappa visited some drought hit districts and wrote to Gowda, asking him to release Rs 200 crore immediately for relief work and Rs 25 lakh to each of the 123 taluks for providing drinking water.
