Tamil Nadu Governor stresses for awareness on voluntary blood donation
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Monday stressed the need for creating more awareness on voluntary blood donation.

"The habit of voluntary blood donation needs to be cultivated. The people, especially the youth should be motivated..," he said at the Annual General Meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society here.

Observing that there are about four lakh junior Red Cross and 11 lakh youth red cross volunteers in Tamil Nadu, the Governor requested the State unit of the Indian Red Cross to chalk out plans to come out with a drive to enrol more people.

"We need more and more people, especially the youth, to join the Red Cross movement. It develops in one sense of social care and commitment", he said.

Stating that there was a need to bring in more people in the Red Cross Society Movement, Rosaiah said citizens should involve themselves in social service organisations. "We need to unite the like-minded and kind-hearted people to join the mainstream of social service".
