Kerala solar scam: Left to intensify stir against Oommen Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM-led opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala has decided to intensify its agitation demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over his alleged role in the solar scam.

LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan said that state leaders would lead campaign marches across the state to 'expose' the Chief Minister's role in the scam, which has been rocking the state for over three months now.

Public meetings would be held in all constituencies of the state as part of the campaign, he said.

LDF had called off its two-day long siege of the state secretariat last month after the government agreed for a judicial probe but vowed it would continue the agitation till Mr Chandy resigned.

Two people have been arrested for allegedly duping several people of huge sums by flaunting their clout with the chief minister's office to offer solar energy solutions.

The LDF meeting also wanted the government to effectively intervene in the market to contain the soaring prices of essential commodities, Mr Viswan said.
