A Honda engineer has captured the internet's attention after photos and videos showcasing his anime-inspired hairstyle went viral online. Social media users quickly compared his spiked look to iconic characters from the popular animated series, including Naruto and Dragon Ball. As reported by Kursiv, Shotaro Odate, a senior research and development engineer at Honda, recently appeared in a short Honda R&D video, in which he was explaining driver-assistance technology.

In the latest video, Odate can be seen with his hair styled into sharp, upward-pointing spikes that closely resemble the legendary Super Saiyan transformation from Dragon Ball.

He was speaking about enhancing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) via offset-corrected and adaptive grasp detection.

According to the media outlet, Odate is credited with more than 250 patents related to automotive safety. Some reports even claimed it to be 253, with work including steering sensors, braking technology and intelligent seat belt systems.

Clips of his appearance spread rapidly across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram. Online users even called him "real-life Goku" and celebrated his confident and energetic vibe.

"Born to be a Final Fantasy character, forced to be an engineer," one user wrote in the comment section of the video.

"Bro got cut from Tekken and started working at Honda," another user jokingly said.

"This guy is the literal anime engineer who every other engineer freaks out over when he walks into the room," a third user added.

"When you have a Final Fantasy cosplay party at 3 pm but gotta pitch that business presentation at 2 pm," a fourth user said.
