The Moment 42 Rescued Beagles in Bengaluru Get Bail From Jail

42 beagles were rescued in Bengaluru

Remember the famous scene from the movie 101 Dalmatians when the imprisoned puppies ran scot free after being released from Cruella de Vil's trap? Something similar happened in Bengaluru recently when 42 out of 156 beagles left their cages and experienced freedom for the first time.

The life of these adorable four-legged creatures changed overnight when a Bengaluru-based laboratory had to set them free after the government refused to grant permission to use dogs for experiments. In 2013, India banned animal testing for cosmetics.

Most of the dogs, some between the age group of 7 to 10, grew up in the cage and never expected to see the daylight.

The Bengaluru beagles were rescued by animal rights organization Compassion Unlimited Plus Action or CUPA, as they had nowhere to go. The CUPA members are currently accepting applications from prospective adoptive homes.

On Tuesday, May 17, CUPA volunteers posted pictures and a video of the dogs being taken to a temporary shelter on Facebook.

42 out of 156 laboratory rescued beagles Forty two out of a hundred and fifty six beagles stepped out of their cages from a lifetime of misery into the sunshine outside today. For the first time ever, they got to feel the grass, sniff each other and just explore. All this thanks to the awesome folks at CUPA, for saving these beagles from the horror they've endured. It's a privilege for us to witness and capture these special moments and to work with all who made this happen.Godspeed.
