Shiv Sena Sacks Party Worker For Hitting Shopkeeper

The incident was captured by the CCTV cameras in the shop and later a First Information Report (FIR) was registered with Juhu police.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has sacked a party worker who was caught on camera hitting a shopkeeper with a stick in Mumbai's Vile Parle area. The Sena says such incidents will not be tolerated.  

The sacked worker, Sunil Mahadik, alleges the shopkeeper abused him so he hit him but the shopkeeper alleges Mr Mahadik was refused a free vada pav and hence he struck him with a stick. The incident took place on Saturday and it was captured on CCTV camera.

Meanwhile, in Mira Road on the outskirts of Mumbai, members the other Sena, Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), which has been reduced to one seat in the Assembly, vandalised a builder's office. Their grouse, the builder complained to authorities against them for illegally constructing a shed on his land.

At around 11 this morning, a group of MNS workers walked into the office of Raj Realty and vandalised the premises. This incident too has been caught on camera and the police are on the lookout for the accused. No arrests have been made so far.

Suhas Bawache, Deputy Superintendent of Police, told NDTV, "We have identified seven culprits and we are on the looking for them. A case has been registered at the Nayanagar Police Station."

The builder, Rajesh Singh, told reporters, "I had complained about them to the police as they had illegally constructed the shed on my land. I got the municipal authorities to demolish the shed and that is why they have attacked my office."
