Sheena Bora Murder Case: 1000-page Chargesheet Filed by CBI

24-year-old Sheena Bora was allegedly strangled in a car, then her body was burnt before being dumped in the forest.

Mumbai: Three months after Sheena Bora's remains were found in a forest near Mumbai, the CBI has filed a charge-sheet accusing her mother Indrani Mukerjea and two others of murdering her.

The over 1000-page charge sheet says Sheena Bora, 24, was murdered in 2012 by Indrani Mukerjea, wife of TV tycoon Peter Mukerjea, and her accomplices in the crime were her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai.

The case was handed over to the CBI by Maharashtra government in September this year.

The charge-sheet includes the statements of around 150 witnesses. The CBI has also added the charge of poisoning in the case.

The CBI had earlier registered a case against Ms Mukerjea, Sanjeev Khanna and Shyam Rai charging them with abduction, murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence among others.

Sheena Bora was allegedly strangled inside a car in April 2012. Her remains were found in August this year, in the forest in Raigad, around 80 km from Mumbai. Days later, Indrani Mukerjea was arrested.

Ms Mukerjea is accused of keeping Ms Bora's body overnight at the home she shares with Peter Mukerjea, before driving it to Raigad the next morning where it was set on fire. She alleged told friends and family for three years that her daughter had left for the US.

A central forensic team has confirmed that the remains are of Ms Bora.

Police suspect that Ms Mukerjea, 43, was locked in a bitter financial dispute with Ms Bora at the time of her death.
