Mumbai Monorail Breaks Down Near Wadala, Services Affected For 5 Hours

The monorail broke down due to a technical snag around 6 am and services were suspended till about 11 am.

Mumbai: A monorail broke down at Bhakti Park station in Mumbai's Wadala area today affecting the services during morning rush hours.

Thousands of commuters were hit with major disruption on a busy Monday morning after the services were cancelled for five hours.

The monorail broke down due to a technical snag around 6 am and services were suspended till about 11 am as officials carried out repair work.

There were no passengers onboard during the incident.

The driver of the monorail was safely evacuated moments later by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

Services along the Wadala-Chembur monorail stretch has resumed after the faulty rake was towed away to the Wadala depot.

Inaugurated in February 2014, over 15,000 people use monorail to commute daily.
