Lucknow:
A 25-year-old man shot himself dead after firing at a girl student who allegedly turned down his marriage proposal, police said on Monday. The girl has been hospitalised in a serious condition.
Abhai Verma (25) took his own life after firing at Neetu (22), a business management student at the Dayal Institute of Management, in Gudamba locality.
"While Verma died on the spot, the girl was rushed to a hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical," Lucknow police spokesperson Anand Srivastava told reporters.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that the man shot the girl and killed himself in a fit of rage after an argument over the marriage proposal," he added.
