This Instagram Account Is Making Hilarious Fake Ads For Real Brands
Fake ads, real brands, real laughs

There are things, and then there are fake copies.

There are people, and then there are fake people (true story, bro).

There are ads, and then there is this Instagram account that is giving you your daily dose of fake ads (read: daily dose of humour).

Ramyakh Jain's Instagram account thefakeadco is everything you don't expect ads to be...witty, out and out funny, pretty honest and in your face.

"Picture this: just another creative guy looking for platform to show his talent, followed by multiple rejections from ad agencies and marketing firms. So what do I do? I start my own page. Oldest story in the book, and yet never old enough," laughs Ramyakh, a 20 year old management student from DU, whose "fake-ads" has created a buzz on Instagram.

There is no dearth of audience for humor on social media; people love pages over pages that serve memes and sketches and what not. For Ramyakh, the idea apparently is to create fake advertisements for real brands, which are punny, reflective of the times we live in, and touching some raw nerve.

Talking about the posts, Ramyakh is of the view that all he does is try to be honest.

"The humor just comes along the way. I have always been a fan of puns and wordplay, so I go for those. My idea is not only to promote brands in a funny, creative, different way but deep down I also want to encourage other people to be creative. I don't want people like me to suffer because they didn't get the right platform for themselves."

Asked about who inspired him, the name wasn't one of the comedians (although Ramyakh loves Zakir Khan). It was Ogilvy & Mather's National Creative Director Piyush Pandey.

And where does Jain want to take this Instagram account, now that it has taken off so well?

"There's a long road ahead and I've started putting a thought in how to make it a big thing," says Ramyakh.

And God knows he should.
