Monsoons can be a tricky time, especially for coloured hair. Coloured hair in general, has many preconceived notions that come along with it. This only escalates further in the rainy season as questions about fading colour and rough texture often arise. Answering them today is Ms. Agnes Chen, who is the Technical Head of Streax Professional. We spoke to her about maintaining one's coloured tresses during the monsoon months and here's her expert advice to tackle it.

On How Rains Affect Coloured Hair

The monsoon season in general, can do a number on one's hair and leave it in distress. "As coloured hair is chemically treated in nature, it needs extra care than normal hair. The rainy season tends to be high in humidity, which makes hair frizzy and unmanageable," says Agnes Chen. That's enough to keep you on guard about hair care this season.

On Precautions One Must Take

The good news is if you're planning on changing your hair hue this season, you haven't got too much to worry about. "I'd advise hair colour shades for the gloomy monsoons to be bright and cheerful. Once done, maintaining it important even when you go home," advises Agnes.

On The Best Way To Care For It

Says Chen, "During the rains, it's important to use the right products to maintain one's hair. At home, use a shampoo, protective conditioner and serum. In the salon, a good hair spa can help tame and control unmanageable hair while preserving its shade."

On Monsoon Tips For Coloured Hair

Since coloured hair needs extra loving during this season, here's what Agnes advises - "Constant maintenance is the best way to maintain coloured hair. Regular hair spas are beneficial for one's hair. It is also important to refresh one's hair colour after a few weeks or months, depending on hair growth."

On What Not To Do To

If you've got coloured hair, make sure you don't make these silly mistakes this season. "When your hair is wet, make sure you don't brush or comb it whatsoever as this will only break and damage it. Don't make the mistake of skipping serum, as it will keep hair manageable," concludes Agnes.
