Road trips can be just as tiring as they are fun; especially when you set out for a journey that will take you more than eight hours to complete. Not only can road trips be exhausting for the driver, but they're also often as draining for the other passengers. While you do have the option of getting in and out of the car and stopping as per your convenience, once you're on the road your priority soon becomes getting to your destination in a timely fashion. After all, you do want to make the most of the location you're heading to, especially if it's only for a limited period of time. In such a case, it helps to go prepared on your journey, so that you can make minimal stops and get to your final destination as soon as the roads, weather and other crucial factors permit.

Here are a few important things you should not forget to carry with you on your next road trip.
1. A Small Trash Can
If you're going to spend a good amount of time in your car, you're bound to collect some trash from all the food that you eat and the wrappers that you dispose. You won't always have time to make a stop to get rid of your trash; neither do you want to be sitting in a space for all those hours with trash all around you. For this reason, make sure that you carry a small trash can with you. Whether it's a just a large paper bag or a small box from your house you have no use of - make sure you keep something you can throw your garbage in.
2. Travel Blankets and Pillows
Travel pillows are not just for when you're traveling by air. On a road trip, they are probably more necessary. Think about all the jerks you'll probably experience while you take a nap; it can be seriously disturbing. Your travel pillow can save you a lot of pain. Add on a nice cozy blanket and you're all set for a comfortable ride.
3. Cash
While cards may seem like the easier method of payment and also less cumbersome to carry, a lot of small restaurants and cafes that you might want to stop at on your way could possibly only accept cash. Go prepared for such a situation and keep enough cash in hand.
4. A First Aid Kit
You can never be sure about the kind of places you might come across on your road trip. At times, you might come across a stretch that doesn't have a single chemist shop or pharmacy. It is essential to go prepared with your own first-aid kit, owing to such possibilities. Carry some basic painkillers, bandaids, anti-allergic medicines and any other medicines that might be prescribed to you by your doctor.
5. A Flashlight
Whether you need to step out of your car on a dimly lit road or your car battery just died in the dark, having a flashlight can serve as a real blessing. Keep two of these instead of one, so that you always have a spare.
