High Court issues contempt showcause notice to Devaswom Board
Kochi: Kerala High Court issued contempt showcause notice to the President, Secretary andmembers of the Cochin Devaswom Board (CDB) after finding that the board members were showing scant regard to the court's orders regarding maintenance of teak saplings in Thekkinkadu maidan in Thrissur.

Earlier, the board had given assurance to the court that the teak trees would be planted and maintained in the maidan.

On finding that the large number of saplings were destroyed due to non watering, the bench consisting of justiceThothathil B Radhakrishnan and justice C T Ravikumar said that there was a concerted effort from some officials to torpedothe project.

The bench also directed the board president, members to show cause why exemplary cost for dereliction of duties cannotbe imposed.
