Woman files FIR about missing husband after 18 years

Valsad: Eighteen years after her husband went missing, a woman has lodged a missing complaint at Valsad in Gujarat, police said today.

However, Assistant Sub Inspector (Bhilad), Babulal Ramkrishna told PTI that the family lodged an FIR to sell their property, which was in the name of Janaksinh Parmar, the woman's husband.

Manju Janaksinh Parmar (50) filed the complaint with Bhilad police last week stating that her husband had left home in January 1995 without informing her and has not returned yet.

When police asked her why she didn't file a complaint till now, Ms Manju told them she was then dissuaded by relatives and villagers not to file a complaint following which she never approached police.

Manju's son Dhanraj Parmar, now 22, drives a tempo to earn livelihood but does not recall exactly when his father left him.

"We want to sell our property, which is in our father's name," Dhanraj confirmed, adding that their lawyer had told them to lodge an FIR to ease the process of selling the property.

"I have two sisters. My elder sister has been married but we had to sell this piece of property to arrange finance for the marriage of my other sister," he said.
