UP alerts districts over Liberhan report "leakage"

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has alerted respective district administrations in view of the
"leakage " of the Liberhan Commission report in the media and directed for taking necessary pre-emptive measures.

Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Brij Lal told reporters here that necessary directives were issued to respective police chiefs alerting them to take special care of the sensitive areas and ensure that mischievous elements do not take advantage of the situation.

On the security of the shrine in Ayodhya, Brij Lal said that adequate security is available there with deployment of six companies of CRPF, 14 of Provincial Armed Constabulary, besides 417 personnel of other ranks.

Security of Kashi Vishvanath in Varanasi and Mathura shrines have also been taken care of, he said.

The government has provided two bullet proof vehicles for Ayodhya made available by Mahindra defence systems and a bullet proof gypsy for the Kashi Vishwanath shrine, Lal said.

These vehicles have special solid bullet proof tyres and have sitting capacity of four jawans with weapons at the back, the ADG said adding that the vehicle has a hydraulic system, which can open the roof, so that a jawan with a light machine gun can take position.

The cost of the two vehicle is over Rs 75 lakh, he added.
