Stand-off over Muivah's Manipur visit

Manipur: There is likely to be a major standoff on the Nagaland-Manipur border on Thursday when National Socialist Council of Nagaland Isak-Muivah (NSCN IM) general secretary Muivah attempts to enter Manipur. The Manipur government is opposing his visit saying it is more political in nature than homecoming.

The Manipur cabinet is firm on denying Muivah permission.

The Chief Minister of the state, Okram Ibobi Singh is likely to fly to Delhi on Thursday morning by a special plane. Ibobi is firm on not giving Muivah permission.

The centre, however, has tried to reason with Manipur to allow Muivah's visit and is even mulling the option of providing him a helicopter to visit his native village in Ukhrul district

A 48-hour bandh has been called in Manipur from 6 pm on Thursday against Muivah's visit.
